What happens at a Sleep Fit?

You sit down with Alison, tell her how you sleep, then lie on the beds properly — flat and raised, side by side, for as long as you like. It takes about 30 minutes and there's no obligation.

Can I bring my partner?

Yes — please do. Most couples shop one at a time and then someone has to ask the other half. Bring them, Alison locks the door, and the drinks are on us (18+).

Yes, walk-ins are welcome weekdays 10am–3pm and Saturday 9am–12pm. For a private Sleep Fit, book a weekday afternoon or Saturday afternoon so the shop is yours.

Do you deliver and take the old bed away?

With The Works, yes — delivery and set-up (stairs included), your old mattress and base taken away and recycled, and a premium waterproof protector fitted. Factory Direct is our lowest price; you take it from there.

Are your mattresses Australian-made?

Yes. Our mattresses are Australian-made, backed by the manufacturer's warranty and our TMO 10-Year Local Backup.

Do I need to make an appointment for a fitting?

An appointment is recommended so Alison can give you her full attention and guide you through the options without interruption. Your mattress fitting is free, relaxed and no obligation. There is no pressure to purchase.

Why are we called an outlet?

Because we'd rather put your money into the bed than into the showroom. Our premium Australian-made mattresses are made to order. We don't carry huge inventories. We don't operate a giant big-box showroom network. We don't employ commissioned salespeople trying to move whatever is sitting on the floor. We professionally fit your sleep system, have it made for you and keep the unnecessary retail costs out of the price.

How long does the fitting take?

Most fittings take about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how many setups we test with you.

Do I need to bring anything to the fitting?

Ideally bring your partner. Wear comfortable clothes and be ready to lie down and try out recommended mattresses and adjustable bases.

Can I buy a mattress by itself?

Absolutely — yes. We'll fit you properly for the right mattress; the rest is entirely up to you.

What is a Sleep System?

A Sleep System is a combination of a compatible mattress with an electric adjustable base. That means you can change your position to take pressure off your hips, lower back, shoulders and neck while you actually sleep. It is not about finding one perfect angle and staying there. It is about having the right support available when your body needs it.

How is this different from a normal mattress?

A standard mattress is static. A Sleep System lets you adjust position and support to what your body needs at that moment in time, which ultimately allows you to get a better night's sleep.

How do I know which Sleep System is right for me?

The fitting is the answer. Alison asks some simple questions about your sleep. Then you test out recommended mattresses and explore the different adjustable settings.

What is the “Zero Gravity” position and how does it help?

Zero Gravity gently raises your legs above heart level and tilts your upper body back, taking pressure off your spine and joints — similar to the weightless feeling astronauts get on takeoff. It's especially good for your back: with the pressure off your spine, your muscles can properly relax and recover overnight instead of staying tense. That means less stiffness, better circulation and waking up feeling recovered rather than sore. You can feel it for yourself at your in-store fitting.

What sizes are available?

Single, king single, double, queen, king and super king are available.

Do you deliver outside Townsville?

Yes — we can deliver to areas including Charters Towers, Mt Isa, Proserpine, Airlie Beach, Bowen, Ingham, Cardwell and Mission Beach. Ask us for a quote.

Do you remove my old mattress?

Yes, we can remove your old mattress.

Do you have mattresses and adjustable bases for different budgets?

Yes. We offer a range of support and comfort levels across different price points.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we offer Humm no interest ever payment plans, subject to approval and applicable terms.

Are your mattresses Australian-made?

Yes. We specialise in premium Australian-made mattresses produced by leading local manufacturers. This allows us to offer quality materials, supportive construction and excellent workmanship. All mattresses come with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty.

Is TMO the same business as The Mattress Outlet?

Yes. TMO is The Mattress Outlet Townsville. We're introducing a new name and look, with the same Alison, the same local ownership and the same Woolcock Street store. Our new name reflects our focus: personally fitted sleep solutions, local support and better mornings.

The Sleep Fit for Two

Doors locked. Beds made. Drinks on us.

Most couples shop for a bed one at a time — then someone has to ‘ask the other half.’ So bring them. For 30 minutes, the shop is yours.

Tell me how you both sleep.

Sore spots, snoring, hot or cold, who steals the covers. A few quick questions, no sales pitch.

Lie on them properly.

Side by side, flat and raised, for as long as you like. On a Split King, each side moves on its own.

Decide together.

No pressure, no ‘today only.’ And if your bed’s fine, I’ll tell you.

A cold beer or a glass of wine on the house — or something soft, 18+ for the drinks.
